These strange times have effectively forced people to slow down. Working from home, homeschooling the kiddos, and having to social distance will do that. A positive side effect has been the self-discovery, or self-reflection that has gripped so many. It can sometimes go unnoticed, but we're willing to bet that you have had a moment or two of discovery and even reflection.
It's these internal observations that drove the theme for this week's "distraction". We'll start with music since music can be really thought-provoking, and Janelle Monáe is all about lyrical themes that will have you thinking as you sing and hum along. The Hidden Figuresactress pulled a synth-pop influence from Prince for her latest album, Dirty Computer.Â
Every good reset could be accompanied with a cleanse. We're not about to go down that road just yet, so a quick and easy Kombucha Cocktail will suffice.Â
We are getting close to serenity, but having a visual sometimes helps reach the mental goal. Look no further than Jai Vasicek and his use of color and composition that really captures feminine beauty and invokes the goddess within.
